People Visit Your Website But Nobody Enquires? Here’s What I Check First
Visitors but no WhatsApp, no calls, no forms. The 10 things I check first, in order.

Your Google Analytics says people are coming. Hundreds, maybe thousands a month. But your phone is quiet. No WhatsApp, no calls, no form. It's a frustrating feeling, because it looks like the website is “working” and the business isn't.
When an owner sends me a website with this problem, I don't start by redesigning. I go through a list, in order. Here it is, so you can check yours first.
1. Are they the right visitors?
Traffic is not the same as customers. The first thing I check is who is coming and why.
- Are visitors from Malaysia, or from countries you don't serve?
- Did they arrive from a search that matches what you sell?
- Is a blog post bringing many readers who were never going to buy?
- If you run ads, are they showing for the wrong searches?
For example, an aircond servicing company ranking for “how does aircond work” will get visitors. Students, mostly. Not people with a broken aircond in Puchong.
If ads are bringing the wrong people, the fix is in the ad settings, not the website. That's something I look at in Google Ads management.
2. Is the first screen clear?
Open your website on your phone. Look at the first screen only, for five seconds. Can a stranger tell:
- What you do?
- Who it's for, and which area you serve?
- What to do next?
Many websites open with a beautiful photo and a line like “Excellence in Quality Since 1998”. Nice, but it says nothing. The visitor has to scroll and guess. Many won't.
3. Is there enough reason to trust you?
People are careful with businesses they don't know. Before they contact you, they look for proof:
- Real photos of your work, team, shop or projects. Not only stock photos.
- Customer feedback or Google reviews.
- Company details: registered name, address, how long you've been operating.
- Certificates or memberships, if your industry has them.
If your website looks like it could belong to anyone, people will choose someone who looks more real.
4. Does it actually work on phone?
Not “can it open on phone”. Can a customer use it easily with one thumb, standing at a bus stop? Check if the text is big enough, buttons aren't too small or too close together, and the WhatsApp button is easy to reach.
5. Is there too much information?
Some websites try to say everything. Every service, every product, the company history since 1980, the full mission statement, all on the home page. The customer gets lost and leaves.
A good page has one main job. It says the important thing clearly, shows proof, and tells you what to do next. The rest can live on other pages.
6. Is the call to action weak?
A small “Contact Us” link at the bottom of the page is not enough. Customers need a clear, easy next step, and they need to see it more than once.
- A WhatsApp button that stays visible on phone.
- Button wording that says what happens: “WhatsApp us for a quote” is clearer than “Submit”.
- A ready message, so they don't need to think what to type.
7. Is it slow?
Slow websites lose people before they see anything. Open your website on mobile data, not office wifi. If you're waiting, so are your customers. Usually the cause is huge images, too many add-ons, or weak hosting.
8. Does the journey make sense?
Follow the path a customer would take. They land on a service page from Google. Then what? Is there a clear way to see examples, check the price range and contact you? Or do they hit a dead end and have to go back to the home page and start again?
9. Is the pricing confusing or missing?
You don't always need to show exact prices. But if customers have no idea whether you cost RM500 or RM50,000, some won't ask, because they're afraid of the answer. A “starting from” price, or what affects the price, helps people decide to contact you.
10. Is the form scaring people away?
Ten fields, a required company registration number and a captcha that doesn't load. For a first enquiry, name, phone and one line about what they need is often enough. Also test the form yourself. Sometimes a form looks fine but sends to an old email nobody checks anymore.
What I don't promise
I can't promise that fixing these will bring a certain number of enquiries. Nobody honestly can. Your market, your price, your competitors and your reputation all matter too. What I can say is that these are the most common reasons good businesses get visitors but no contact, and most of them are fixable.
Where to start
Go through the list above with your own phone. If you find two or three problems, start with the first screen and the WhatsApp button. Those usually make the biggest difference for the effort.
